What to expect on results day?
Updated: Jun 23, 2022
It is perfectly normal to be slightly worried about your exam results. But there is no need to worry too much as we are here to support you with appeals and anything else.
So, here’s what we think students should be expecting to see on results day.
Students are likely to receive higher grades than what they may expect to see on their results card. Not because teachers have been giving their judgement or due to favouritism. Rather, for those students who were working at a borderline grade, five/six teachers most likely gave the students the higher grade.
The public, i.e., the media outlets, may attempt to undermine the value of grades. g2T encourages students to ignore these headlines completely, and all students should be proud of the grades they have achieved.
Since grades are based on teachers’ academic judgements, there is likely to be a greater inequality between the grades given to students in high and low-income areas. Additionally, there is the likelihood of a greater number of students applying for appeals. As a result, the appeals process may be slightly complicated.
What if my results aren’t how I wanted them to be?
Though your results are important as they will ultimately impact the next step in your life. Your capabilities and skills are not all reflected in the grades you receive. Therefore, the grades you receive do not determine what you will end up doing in the future. So, if you are disappointed with your results & are unable to follow your ideal plan, go ahead and follow through with plan B!
If you believe you have underperformed, this is the perfect time for self-reflection and evaluating why you fell short of your expectations and what changes you need to bring about to make sure you are working to the best of your ability.
