Not long left... Are you ready?

There’re only a few months left till the exams. Here’s what we think you should be focusing on. Look out for another post on exam dates.

( 1 ) Tracking

You should have already been tracking your revision. You need to know what you have revised, need to revise and what you need to revise again.

If you haven’t already done so, do it now. All you need to do is find a revision checklist and tick off everything you know and highlight all the topics you aren’t aware of.

( 2 ) Make sure you know your fundamental topics

Ensure you fully understand the fundamental topics – this is what we call core knowledge. Without the core knowledge – you struggle to cover the harder/advanced topics. So, if you haven’t already done so, revise all the core knowledge first.

For example, when you are building a house – if you don’t lay the foundations of the house properly and you start building on top – the house is likely to fall. So, make you lay down the core knowledge first before you begin to attempt the more complicated questions.

If you don’t know where to start – ask your teachers!

( 3 ) Multiple choice questions practice

Multiple choice question practice – is the key to checking whether you're being honest with yourself. They are quick and efficient – either you know the answer or you don’t, quick to mark and you‘ll know whether you have the basic knowledge of topics. At the same time, you will be able to quickly rectify your small mistakes and have you ready to attempt the long answer questions.

( 4 ) Revision flashcards

Make revision flashcards – this shouldn’t contain notes you already know, rather it should have key facts you need to memorise or pieces of knowledge you don’t know/get wrong in your practice questions.

( 5 ) Be prepared

If you are feeling stressed – you need to create a revision. Plan your revision time and remind yourself; you are putting in the work to get the grades – there’s not much more you can do so what’s the need to stress for. If you know exam anxiety, is something you will need to tackle - start planning and practising stress relief techniques. You can find a list on our website.
