Exam marking and delays

Hello there - we know a lot of you will be worried about the potential delays to exam results. Read this article to find out what's going on!

The bare minimum we suggest is to book a session with us, to qualify for a free assessment session where we thoroughly assess the students' knowledge gaps - usually this is worth £25!

But before this, we have some important updates about the marking approach for calculation questions.

At g2T we are offering a range of revision courses at customer-friendly prices/discounts. We are here to help our students achieve academic success. Education is important and you won’t find any other tuition centre offering what we do, at the price we do. You can read through our brochure or contact us at 07735 480 230, to speak to a member of our team to find out what we offer to customers.

Marking of calculation questions

There appears to have been a change in the way Maths and Science calculation questions are being marked.

Mark schemes are now focusing on awarding marks to those students who have shown their calculations. If you have put down just the answer, this may be an issue from now on. Exam boards are now looking to scrutinise student papers due to leaks or having seen questions previously. So, if there is a complex five-mark calculation question which requires calculation and no calculation is shown - you may not be awarded all the marks. Previously, exam boards would award the entire marks designated to the question as long as the answer was correct.

At g2T, we don’t believe this change is a significant one. We always encourage students to show workings for all the questions as this is the best exam technique.

Exam board staff strikes

There is talk of some staff at exam boards going on strike. The exam boards and the union have come out and said there is potential for delays in exam results as a result of the strikes.

However, we believe the effect of the strikes is likely to be low and all students should expect to see their exam results as normal on results day - so there is nothing to worry about!

Here at g2T, we are offering summer revision sessions so that you can brush up on your prior knowledge before you head into your year 12 studies.
